How To Repair a Tear in Fabric
|
To repair a rip or tear in fabric rather than reparing a burn or hole, always work with the inside of
the fabric facing upwards.
Tease the torn threads together as best you can.
Sprinkle Bonash Bonding Powder on top of the tear (you don't
need a lot)
Cover with a patch that covers the rip or tear ideally a similar color to the garment being
repaired. So it blends in.
Once you have positioned the patch over the damage area blow away any excess bonding powder.
Then cover with a Bonash fiber glass and PTFE pressing
sheet and run a hot iron over the area
Turn the fabric over and once again using the pressing sheet run the iron over the front of the
fabric.
Once it has cooled down your tear should look virtually invisible and ready to be washed ironed
or dry cleaned.
